Brainy Dogs is a National Lottery funded project that takes rescue dogs who are then trained by inmates to become companion dogs to people with a brain injury or neurological condition. Neurological conditions can leave people with poor communication skills and feeling isolated having lost contact with friends and family following personality changes. Having a dog increases their confidence, gives them a reason to take regular exercise and makes them feel much better about life.

These portraits capture the wonderful canine and human partnerships that are supported by the charity and the special bond that they share. The series was exhibited and featured in the National Lottery's 2018 commercial which aired on ITV.
